A cast iron pot with svensk pølseret inside.
The Danes say its Sweedish, the Sweeds say its not.

Svensk Pølseret

This Danish “Sweedish Stew” is apparently unknown in Sweden. But mark my words, it will be loved even by the fussiest of people. Its easy to make and its rich flavor will warm your tummy in Scandinavian winter.

Ingredients

Directions

Chop up your sausage and put it in a pan with the butter to brown. Do the same with the cubed potatoes adding butter if necessary. When ready remove them and sauté the onions until they are almost transparent, then add the garlic and wait another 3 minutes.

In a large pot add all the above together, then mix in the beef broth and the tomato sauce, add water if the mix is too thick. Bring it all to a boil, then cover and cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes.

In a separate cup put some of the broth and blend in the flour untill no lumps can be seen. Stir the thickener back into the pot and let it boil once more.

When ready turn off the stove, add salt, pepper and stir in the milk and cream, cover and let it sit for another 10 minutes. This stew will serve 3 or 4 hungry Danish stew lovers.
